Miss Marple, Clark was "cherry picking" info. At the time, she thought she was going with the JIll time of 10:50. And it did NOT as you say match up with the thumps.
That is why they cherry picked Heistra right out of the mix due to the thumps and the Hey, Hey, Hey being at the same time approximately. (as was the limo driver's trip around to Rockingham to check out the driveway, etc.).
The DA's did the same thing with the barking dog witnesses. Only used those from prior to 10:30 when in fact the ones who actually looked at their watches or could prove the time by phone records (the multi watch woman) they did NOT call.
That jury has been criticized many times and many ways but I tell you the DA's "cherry picked" info was a BIG RED FLAG to me and I think it was to them as well.
And neither are they stupid. In other murder cases, other convicted killers have been used as witnesses against a defendant yet they won't use Shively because she "talked to a tabloid" only?
I don't think so.
