Yes, I agree with you. The pattern begins to show up immediately even on a new pair of shoes.
And those people that I know with bad knees tend to have an odd rolling gait to compensate and to protect the knees from stress.
In fact, people who need double knee replacements or are walking compensating for both knees tend to have Severe wear on their shoes.
I checked out my newer work shoes and found that they already show this wear pattern on them as well. Not as much but it's getting there. A little more wear and they will look like the others.
Did I mention, this wear pattern is on ALL of my shoes? That includes my track shoes as well.
