Prien, Well said. Better than me.
I have now seen this photo from the Dear book. It is not as distinct as the one I saw on Rivera. Why? Because this one is book quality copy whereas the one I saw was live video shot on tape.
The shot I saw (aimed from the top of the step rather than the side) is plainer--as in looks more like the heel print seen at the corner tile by the hat and glove.
Also interesting is that the print is above Nicole along where her back/hip is. So it is more to the left on the step than the right which it might be assumed that the killer walked up the right side of steps (at least at first) than the left side where the highest part of Nic's body is.
Also, from other photos, I know that the trail at the top of steps is also on the left side of the landing (nearer the house).
If the "prints" had crossed the steps from right to left, and then ended up closer to the house, I would understand.
What I don't understand is prints that appear to go up the left side forcing the person to step OVER top of NIc's body rather than go up the side where there is an "opening" to the steps near her head.
To me this shows the person or the trail did not go from the "caged area" and the heel imprint there up the right side of the steps. Somehow, it gets from the hat and glove to the left side of the steps.
Bodziak labels this print which he never showed a left sole print and it is obvious from photos that it is a heel print not a sole print.
And how is it that only the heel shows up if the shoe has completely been in the blood?
