I think that he wore white socks to play golf. He wore black socks to the recital, but he put them in his shoes in the closet, because he did not consider them dirty and would wear again.
I once dated a neat nick like this. It was painful for him to have anything out of place. Some how his mother had so drilled into him that nothing could be out of place that it was almost like a sin for him to do something like leave socks on the floor. He could wear his clothes for 24 hours and look like he just put them on. But he was a neat freak, not a clean freak. I am just the opposit, a clean freak and complete slob. There is a difference. He was a mystery to me. But if he left socks on the floor, no one would have belileved that he did it, or was in the room once they were put there. It is some kind of obssive behavior and they just do not deviate, no matter what.
