Miss Marple Actually, the detective said he'd give him as much "respect" as any convicted felon living in the area.
Also they made comments about him having "problems with telling the truth".
It was a general impression I got, but it seemed that they "got his number" the first time.
Also, they were highly upset that he seemed to think (arrogance?) that they should "consult" with him. They said why would we do that with a convicted perjurer and a person who had a problem telling the truth?
They said that they thought of him as an entertainer and a talk show host--not a detective.
