According to today's LA Times (Nov. 5) it seems that the cop may NOT have gone down the driveway but the narrow pathway on the other side. That's what it sounds like anyway. Any of you heard about the cop running into a deadend and a waterfilled grotto before?
And for the first time we learn that those closest to him did not even see him hit the first time because it was so fast after some turned around to see the flashlight shining. Lee also spoke and said something along the lines of what is that? That doesn't sound like he stopped and pointed the gun at anything. Only had time to turn around.
Also for the first time, we learn that those closest to him were INJURED with flying glass---one whom had glass in his EYE.
We also learn for the first time---and I want to know more...Lee was talking and using his hands as many people do when they talk. Was he waving this fake gun around as he talked or what?
Also, the party was basically ended. Hosts had put 12:30 limit on the party and it was moving elsewhere. The cops took 45 minutes to arrive. By that time, the party was breaking up (just waiting for shuttle to return to take next load).
Relatively few party-goers are left. Yet, Hopper (sp) leaves his partner in the kitchen and goes down a dark pathway (shades of Fuhrman) past other windows and doors, past a waterfilled grotto and ends up looking into a 12 x 12 bedroom with a few people standing around in it...mostly by the door.
I still question that if this was so fast that the others didn't get completely turned around (even with Lee saying what or who is that?) before the first bullet struck him---did the cop have his gun out already?
And I would venture to say that Lee didn't necessarily get turned around completely either.
As I said to Prien in a private email--anybody and I do mean ANYBODY who is facing the other way holding a cell phone, a pager, a screwdriver, or anything in their hand and is startled (yelled at or a flashlight shines at the them from behind, etc.) and turns around quickly could get blown away then and there under the guise of thinking what you held in your hand is a gun and the guise that the cop PERCEIVES a danger (the current 'test" of clearing cops in these situations).
In the Rampart case, there is at least one (if not more) situation when a bogus shooting of an unarmed person was "fixed" by knocking off a piece of metal from a nearby car and placing it in the hand of the now dead victim and calling it a "weapon" or that the cops thought it was a gun.
This was one of the cases where HOURS went by before the coroner or the crime lab was called.
I would venture to say that at The Castle had there not been other injured parties and guests having a "fit" there would have been a great long time before either was called in this case either.
At first, the cops blocked a nurse from the room to give Lee first aid or CPR. The male nurse had to have a "fit" before he was allowed to try and help Lee.
The more we hear about this the stranger it gets and the more obvious that the first story told by cops (and by Chief Parker) was a lie.
