I am so pissed at the "good" Republican's that I can't see straight. They should be protesting as loudly as anyone. They aren't doing that. If it came down to it I suspect that they will give you an argument about corrupt Democrats, the fairness of the same machine imperfections to all, the stupid, irresponsible Democrats who didn't follow the rules, etc. What scares me is that I saw the same kind of thinking on the Democratic side. If the vote count had been reversed and the Secretary of State had been a zealous operative for the Gore campaign, we'd be hearing the same arguments. Only the Republicans would be using the Democrats' arguments and vise-versa. We got a taste of that with the absentee ballot question and the decision to go to the Supreme Court. These moves where not about principle on either side. They were about winning, period. --Jasper
