Jasper, I am just getting around to reading this series of postings on the kidnapping. From beginning to end, I went thru a series of emotions (none of them good except relief the girls were found unharmed).
What you tell us about does not surprise me. I used to be the biggest supporter of the police that you have ever seen. (a child-like belief in them is what I mean)
I have long since changed my mind--in general. In genral because all cops are not that way but the general situation is that way---Unfortunately.
I don't have time to go into it now (off to work in a few) but I once attempted to report I heard someone in the trunk of a car in the shopping center and the dispatcher told me "What do you want us to do about it, Lady?" I made every effort to get his butt fired. I never did hear though if my efforts proved out.
When two days later a dead body was found in the trunk of a car believed to have passed through our county--a chill went thru my heart I have never and will never get over.
I truly believe that a bunch of the kidnapped kids would have been found before it was too late if the cops would get off their butts and do something.
I hear of cases where they say they haven't been missing long enough, etc. for them to even look.
And the press is no better.
What a sad sad commentary of life in today's world.
