Pat,

One thing is clear: There is a HUGE difference between the way police in different communities handle missing persons cases. The common denominator in the United States seems to be the size of the city. I don't know about Canada. You may have a better handle on this thing than we do. Then again, I wonder what things are like in Montreal and Toronto.

One more thing… I'm not sure you can get a good handle on what's going on just by listening to police scanners. When my granddaughter was missing, there were messages going back and fourth all over the place. But the police I saw on the street when I was going door to door NEVER GOT OUT OF THEIR CARS. It turned out that I had all of the information that would have let the police to Sherell IF they had followed though on any of it. They didn't. But they sure made a lot of calls. --Jasper
