Peacenik--ism

This is actually a continuation of what I began on Iago to Jasper but here I have no idea if and when this will show up.

I am "of an age" as Jasper and others are to be well aware of the Peaceniks of the 60's. I graduated from college in 1969 and saw fires and demonstrations on the UK campass and had a roommate and her boyfriend go out do their thing at this demos. (after college)

I think these days a bunch of the "voices" of unreasonable "peace" in our current situation are these same people or their children or their STUDENTS. Many of these folks went into education or became college professors, etc.

That is a generalization and not true of all but so many are in fact in positions to either write about or make policy or demonstrate once again.

These same folks went into education (I did too) but now are making policy of No Tolerance in which a child who fights the bully back is ALSO suspended and punished in the same way as the bully is.

When they are called to the principal's office they are told how "wrong" they were to fight back. That they are a "bad" person for fighting back and defending themselves.

Moral equilivancy. Ethical equilivancy.

Or that a person that accidentally has a knife under the seat of their car due to it spilling out when moving (a table knife) is as BAD as a person who brings a switchblade to class to harm someone.

And the examples go on and on.

And then their is multiculturalism as taught in schools not as the general population THINKS it is.

What it is in school is the lifting up of OTHER cultures OVER our own. And saying that there is a equalness from Americans to say Pygmies. ( I only chose them due to that is the most primitive group that I can think of at the moment.) Not that they are just as worthy or that they are just different but that they are EQUAL to the American culture. The same would go for ANY other culture in the world. Not to say that American culture is necessarily Better than other cultures (say the French, Spanish, German, etc.) but there is that is different than having an equilivancy with an extremely primitive situation. Or to tell the students that we are wealthy here in the US so therefore that there is even one single hungry person in the world is OUR fault.

Or to stamp down American culture (no holidays of any kind recognized at school) in FAVOR of holidays celebrated in other countries is another example.

And don't tell me it doesn't happen. It does. I witnessed it.

If I were living in Spain and had a child go to school there, I wouldn't expect them NOT to celebrate their holidays or their history just because my kids were there and "might be offended". What's to be offended about? I would have them there in that country and that school. I would have no right to be offended.

Even today there are colleges and universities here barring the flying of the American flag by American students so that the Foreign students aren't Offended. Excuse me?

Or fire departments saying not to fly flags due to the people in the neighborhoods of other countries and cultures "might' be offended. Huh?

Not that America is perfect, but America is the most tolerant country in the world of other cultures and foreigners. (if we weren't, we wouldn't have several thousand possible terrorists roaming around our country)

Between the peaceniks, the PC and the multicultural crowd we have some of the problems we have today.

It is not "terrible" to control immigration or visas or foreign students from terrorist countries. It is reasonable, sane and protects the national security.

The US has as many as 15 MILLION illegal aliens in it at the present time that the INS has no idea where they are or what they are up to.

That is INSANE.
