I was just reading on Iago under Prison Sentence and exchange amongst several posters but mostly Miss Marple and Jasper about not generalizing and profiling Arabs in America.
Those were very good points but I must say NOT to discuess the Enemy from Within is Irresponsible.
I saw an article/interview yesterday of a converted Muslim in a major NY newspaper and how it drew anger. This man spoke every bit as ugly and hatefilled as anything that Bin Laden says. And it has been found the man has tried to buy large amts of guns and get a job in a sensitive place. He also knows a couple of the hijackers who died on the 911 attack.
Also, these terrorists come from all over the world and come in every size, color, race and nationally. Some of them are Arabs, some Asian, some white, some Black.
It is the actions and the oddities that we should be concerned about.
Polls that are now several years old have shown that something like 80% of Muslims in so-called Moderate Muslim countries have "sympathies" for Bin Laden.
Another report told of the problems that they had with Muslims and Arabs in the US Army during the Gulf War who did not want to fight in that war.
Other reports told of the high percentage of so-called Moderate Arabs in the US who sympathsize with Bin Ladin.
I have read how many of the Arab charities have a dark underside that most of the donors are unaware of where some of the money goes to terrorists.
THe guy (from the US Army) who is in prison over the Embassy bombings was having problems "doing his job' so he came here and became a citizen and joined the army. Another of the 22 most wanted hijackers is a man born in Indiana.
Even if the conservative estimates are taken, as many as 350,000 Muslims in the US support Bin Laden.
We have heard of the terrorists becoming citizens, blending in, going to neighborhood BBQ's and doing everything (and perhaps saying everything) to make themselves, they tried to get into jobs in secure places, there are a group who has gotten driver's licences to drive toxic wastes, trucks are missing, they have been able to get driver's licenses, social security cards, fake ID's, etc.
A conservative guess as to how many Active terrorists in the US is 2,000. They fear there are at least two more 911 hijack teams out there somewhere from where they have pieced together the info.
Everybody needs to be on the lookout for suspicious behavior and be up on security. And the person doesn't have to be Arab or wear a turban to be a Muslim or a threat.
