Jean,
The trouble with assigning motives to anyone you don’t know well is that you don’t have enough facts to work with. I didn’t know a thing about Mark Fuhrman when I developed my Iago thesis. I just had a jigsaw puzzle with a bunch of pieces missing and Fuhrman showed up with most of the missing pieces, including the motives. Roberts never showed up to do anything except confirm what Fuhrman said that couldn’t have been true – to cover his back when he got into trouble – like the lookout would have had to do on Bundy.
Why?
You’ve got your guesses and I’ve mine but none of us will know until we know more about Roberts. – Jasper
