Civil twilight is a point in time where the visible light of street lamps (artificial light) and natural sunlight balance each other. Then comes daylight.
When did MF et al arrive at Rockingham? When did they enter the property? When did they awaken Arnell and Kato? When did MF enter the back path? Was there a structure on the next property behind Kato’s room?
While listening to testimony and since reading Iago, I am struck by the detectives portraying the scene around Rockingham as being dark up to the time they entered the house and MF went walking. I remember that MF said on the stand that he used a flashlight. He described his flash light as a small 2 battery with a weak beam which was thrown for a short distance.
Baloney! He was using a Maglight, pound for pound, or candle power for candle power, brighter than any other flashlight of its size, whether 1 cell or 4 cell. The reason police use that brand is because they are bright. But in twilight the beam will appear to be dim because natural daylight is over taking artificial light out of doors.
If the detectives are to be believed about the times given in testimony, I contend that MF could have seen any object on the path he needed to see, unaided by artificial light.
