Jasper-- Thanks for the time line of the activity at the back wall of Kato's room. Checking those times against the sunrise chart at the url I gave you for the date June 13, 1994 shows that MF did not need the flashlight then. Daylight was advanced and a flashlight of any quality would have been ineffective. His flash light testimony re the south path was spoken to prevent thinking about the hour of the day and to make it appear he was "detecting". I would not have been suprised if he had said he had his maginifying glass with him to search for clues.
Even his testimony about using a flashlight at the Bronco at 5:30 am was a play on people's imagination, gining them a false idea of what actual light was available. A flash light in an open street is ineffective at 5:30am any morning in any community observing daylight savings time.
Neither the defense nor the prosecution held his testimony up for a realistic examination.
