O.J. could not have been at Bundy that night (Kato’s Walk animation). The animations are not games or gimmicks; they are analytical tools. The animation you wanted me to make with Park seeing Kato and “almost simultaneously” seeing O.J. is physically impossible to make according to his testimony that he didn’t see both of them on the driveway at the same time. In fact, the x he put on the chart showing where he spotted O.J. GOING INTO THE HOUSE makes it impossible for him not to have seen O.J. first if O.J. came from anywhere except the house. He was looking down that stretch of driveway when he saw Kato.
The discrepancy in Park’s “almost simultaneous” sighing of Kato and O.J. – but definitely Kato first, means that his perception or recollection of the time interval was distorted by several seconds. I made the layout to scale and put the clock up so you can count the seconds in any variation of any story that has O.J. and Kato in Park’s sight. If you think the pace is too fast or too slow you can vary it and you still can’t get Park seeing Kato and O.J. in that order without them seeing each other or passing through each other (Marcia’s Story I and Marcia’s Story 2). Time, space and action have to agree. If they don’t you can’t be looking at reality.
Besides, the time-distorting influence of marijuana, Park was under considerable pressure to tell a story of O.J. crossing the lawn and “sneaking into his front door.” According to her story he came from the pathway behind the garage.
You suggested that he could have hidden behind the Bentley but you have the problem of O.J. getting to the Bentley without park hearing the engine, the door or the gate. The Bronco makes noise even if you cost to a stop from twenty yards away (Donald Freed – Killing Time). The doors make noise anytime you shut them and the gate makes noise. Sound travels especially well at night.
If O.J. took extraordinary precautions to minimize the noise, he had a better way into his property going straight down the Salinger’s driveway to the back of his house. He had two front doors and no reason to try to sneak in the front door nearest Ashford. If he did try sneak in the front, the safest place to go was thought the door closest to the Bentley.
Then there is the way the Bronco was parked. It didn’t move. Any engineer (I’m talking to everybody, here) who works out the distances, angles and pivots will tell you the same thing. No one else has done it because no one else has looked at the Bronco, the street and the gate to scale. No one else even has a scale drawing of the estate.
Now, the lie about the cut finger.
O.J. knew that he had a superficial cut on his finger. No big deal unless someone calls him and tells him his ex has been murdered. Still no problem unless someone tells him that she was slashed to death. The police wouldn’t tell him anything but he talked to several people before he left for LA. Also, a little “loud talk” in the background could have told him she was cut. He was looking at a coincidence to improbable for anyone to believe. He panicked and made a show of cutting himself in Chicago to alibi his Brentwood cut, knowing that the police would see the small cut when he got back. The husband or ex-husband is always the first suspect. -- Jasper
