Lollie,

I cringe to think that anyone thinks I’m the leader here. Everyone has taken the lead at one time or another and the only way anyone is going to take what we do here seriously is if it comes from someone else.

Most people who have read Iago, scanned it or heard me talk about it on the radio are convinced that O.J. is paying me or I am acting out of some kind of “reverse-racism” motivation (yes, I know that makes no sense, but there it is). The few who are open to the idea that O.J. is innocent tend to have some set ideas about who did it and why that they will not put aside long enough to consider a money motive or a power motive that doesn’t involve drug lords or the CIA. I have tried everything I could think of to look at all of the evidence and interpretations of evidence presented by the independent researchers who have come here to share their knowledge and their perspectives on he case. I’m still trying.

One correction…

I wasn’t too busy with my other books to try to get something going for the 10th anniversary of the killings. I had a horrible problem with my server and my e-mail that reinforced each other and shut down the board for nearly a month. I had to get an e-mail address that I could use on my computer before I could solve the server problem and there was so much confusion there that I didn’t think I would ever get it straightened out. By the time the board was up again so many people had dropped out that it didn’t look as though they would ever come back.

Also, I tried to do what I’m proposing now way back when John Junot suggested it. We immediately got bogged down in disagreements over the validity of the animations, which I hoped to use as focus of media attention. I don’t think anyone understood that the key point was not whether they agreed with them but whether they saw their “television value” – a layout to scale, key players in motion. There is nothing like those animations anywhere else or the references I made to Donald Freed’s Killing Time that inspired them. I hoped that someone would pick up on the fact that they could link anything on the site to their perspective on the case or bypass Smartfellows altogether and use the stuff on Wagner’s site. The CNN, Court-TV, LA Times material on the subject is anemic by comparison.

All of that said, I think we can get started by listing potential candidates for a letter writing campaign – O.J., Johnnie Cochran, F. Lee Bailey, Oprah, Geraldo, Joe Bosco, Donald Freed, Michael Moore, etc.

I don’t want this to sound discouraging, but I wrote to all of these people in ’98 and got only one reply (Donald Freed). If many of us wrote our own letters and timed them to arrive a day or so apart over a the course of a month one of us might get somebody’s attention. –Jasper
