The California Pizza Kitchen menu is like the butcher knife on Nicole’s kitchen counter. It makes no sense – outside of the movies.
In Loverboy (’89) Patrick Dempsey is a young male prostitute working as a pizza delivery boy for cover. When a woman calls in for a pizza order with a special topping he knows that it means she wants his sexual service.
Ron Goldman worked at the California Pizza Kitchen before he worked as a waiter at Mezzaluna. “Someone” started a rumor that he was a male prostitute.
In Fuhrman’s Bundy crime scene notes (# 5) he says, “Handwritten note on upstairs coffee table, “Cara 575 5713 Cal Pizza Kitchen.” Pizza menu by female victim’s left leg.”
This was before Goldman’s body was identified. No one else mentioned the note. It was never introduced into evidence and the menu found under Nicole’s foot was a Thai menu. Her feet were under the railing, which means the menu could have fallen there and been there for a long time with no necessary connection to what she was doing before the murders.
Nicole had just eaten. So had Ron. She was expecting him to come by and the water that Officer Riske found in her bathtub suggests to me that she intended to take her bath with him when he arrived. However, that story doesn’t fit the story that Ron dropped by only to deliver Juditha’s glasses so the killer didn’t know he was coming.
Fuhrman’s fifth note seems to be there to only to help Fuhrman build a case long after O.J.’s arrest that Nicole was having sex with Ron. He tells how he arrived at this conclusion in Murder in Brentwood (from a friend who told him that Ron was having sex with an older woman in Brentwood who drove a Ferrari). In his typical “flexible” way he could use it anyway he wanted to, depending on how the DA interpreted the other evidence against O.J. If they concluded that O.J. was in the kitchen when Ron arrived (Fuhrman says nothing about the butcher knife or the blue jean jacket in his notes) the note about the California Pizza Kitchen and the pizza menu supports a story that O.J. knew about Nicole and Ron. If they concluded something else he could ignore it or use it another way at another time.
