There's a peculiar paragraph in "Kaelin's book" where Kato describes the early morning visit by fuhrman.

Kato says he is not sure if he mentioned the thumps first or someone else did. He says he found it odd that it seemed so important to them that he, Kato mentioned it first. (My books haven't arrived yet, so I can't give you page or exact quote.)

That search of Kato's room always seemedstrange and uncalled for to me. They had after all only the speck on the Bronco at that time and they knew O.J. was in Chicago. Maybe the disheveled Kato didn't immediately remember the thumps and fuhrman had to get him to say something about it to give fuhrman a reason to go "find" the glove. And so he busied himself with the search of the room while leading Kato in the direction of the thumps.
