As I remember Fuhrman's account in "Murder in Brnetwood", he first put Kaelin through a type of drunk-driver test because Kaelin looked so 'out of it'. Fuhrman than asked some routine questions, looked at a pair of Kaelin's shoes, and then asked him if anything unusual had happened last night. This is a very routine question, and one that one would expect just from watching cop shows. THEN Kaelin told him of the thumps.
Since there is no tape recording of the actual conversation, I can not simply dismiss Charlie's idea that Fuhrman lead or subtly pressured Kaelin into giving the answer, though I can attack it on other grounds, and have at other place, and will again shortly in another post. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________
this is that other post. This is the relevant section of "Murder in Brentwood", pages 30-31 of the hardbound edition:
"...I asked Kaelin for peermission to lok around insided and to make sure on one else was in the bungalow. Again, he made no objections. While I looked around the room, I asked him his name, where he was last night, and other routine questions. There was a pile of clothes and pair of bots next to the bed. With his permission I inspected the bloots, checking for blood and the design of the sole. There was no blood, and the sole didn't resemble the shoeprints at the Bundy scene.
"I kept asking Kaelin questions in no particular logical order. I asked what he did the previous night, and then followed wiwth, "Who owns the white Bronco out front?" While he was telling me that O.J. drove the car, I quickly followed with "Anthing unusual happen last night?"
"His answer stopped me cold, although he didn't seem to realize its importance.
Kaelin told me at about 10:45, he had hard and felt a copu of lound thumps on the wall above his bed. He thought there had been and earthquake, because the thumps had caused the picture above his bed and to the right of the air conditioner to shake..."
