There is more to it than simply quoting a few lines or I would have already done it. Eliot wrote this book without authorization from Kato. The whole section on the detectives coming to Kato's room contradicts what was testified to by the police officers. The relavant portions run from pages 101-104. It is too much to post all Eliot writes about that morning with the detectives without violating copyright laws. The jist of it is that Fuhrman was in the lead. They were all wearing suits and ties. All the detectives were there when Fuhrman did the drug test and checked Kato clothes. Fuhrman takes Kato outside while the detectives more to Arnelle's room. As to what Ms.Marple remembered, Eliot does say that Kato could not remember who mentioned the thumps first.
This is one specific portion-
"Kato told them he’d spent the night at home and made a few phone calls. Later on (in what may prove to be a major victory for the defense’s theory of a police conspiracy), he told me he could not clearly remember who first brought up the thumping on the walls. According to Kato, he was going to insist on his rights, but didn’t because he felt he had nothing to hide. He asked what was going on, and claims not to remember saying anything about the noises behind the house to Detective Fuhrman"
There is so much more to consider with this book, it is worth getting a copy and reading it. However, Eliot has a bone to pick with Kato over not getting a book deal out of all the time he invested. Much of the written words attributed to Kato may not be Kato's actual words. You can always pick portions of a book to quote but to get the whole picture, it is best to read it and judge for yourself.
