The shoes definitely had feet in them – feet that fit the size of the shoes.
This is the reason I crossed off everyone from the suspect list who could not have filled a pair of size twelve Bruno Magli Lorenzos. You might find this in Bodziack’s testimony or Lee’s or elsewhere on the net. Anyhow, the way you can tell is by something called the “impact zone.” That’s where the ball of the foot exerts more pressure on the ground than the rest of the sole and leaves a slightly more pronounced imprint within the imprint. If the shoes had been worn previously, only a few times, they would also have shown a distinct wear pattern characteristic of the person who wore them. There were zero signs of wear in the shoeprints.
Many of us saw that both sets of imprints leading to the rear of the condo were so clear that they looked as though the killer could have made them only by deliberately stepping into a carefully selected pool of blood. They were like imprints you make with a rubber stamp when you want to be sure that the information on the stamp gets transferred to paper. You press it into the inkpad to filly cover the flat surface with ink and then you press the stamp on the paper. The more times you put the stamp to paper the lighter the imprint gets until it fades away to nothing. That’s what happened when the killer walked away the first time. Before he reached the middle gate the imprints had faded away. When the killer walked back to the courtyard there was no more blood on the shoes.
Now this is what I missed until I read your post….
Why wasn’t the first set of imprints – or at least some of them disturbed by contact with the shoes on the return trip? The only way I could see that happening is if the killer purposely avoided stepping on them. There couldn’t have been much light on the side path so he must have come back with a flashlight.
The misdirection was the cap and glove. It provided a plausible reason for the killer to come back to the courtyard. The cap and glove suggested that he went back to retrieve them when he realized they were missing, but he couldn’t find them in the dark and retreated again when something frightened him away. It also gave the killer an opportunity to put the heel of one shoe in just enough blood to leave a clear imprint within two inches of the cap and glove. Too much blood on the heel would have left a blob and too little would not have shown up clearly, either.
All but one pair of Bruno Magli Lorenzos solid in the United States were accounted for. None of them was ever traced to O.J. or Nicole. Nicole wore women’s Bruno Maglis, which is why the FBI looked for that band as opposed to other brands, which could have left the same Silga imprint that the Lorenzos did. The photos of O.J. wearing the Lorenzos at a football game in New York met ALL of the MANY qualifications to be fakes (Iago, page 595). –Jasper
