I have noticed something over the last year or so. (from about the time OJ was acquitted in that road rage trial and it was discovered that the guy lied about how it happened)
Not all the time, but more and more times the pundits are saying while discussing new cases that the cops don't want to "mishandle" evidence like they did in the OJ case, or lose chain of command like OJ, or have contamination like OJ, etc.
You won't find any who will say much more than that but there is a change in the way the case was handled is perceived. Or rather how the evidence was handled. I even heard one say no planting of evidence as it appeared in the OJ case.
BTW, there is a NEW investigation of the FBI labs. It started with the mishandling of DNA tests in the last 2 years but has expanded back to the prior investigation. There is an AP wire story today even about how this one guy from the lab (Martz's superior) had trashed his work in the OKla City Bombing case yet a few months later changed his whole testimony to Martz was a fine lab tech, etc. And about how he was pressured into changing his statements although he denies he was. Anyway, they are Relooking at some of the stuff from the prior investigation--this time without the labs buddy--Louis Freeh covering for them and giving them commendations instead of disciplinary actions.
At any rate, there seems to be an "acceptance" now that things were done badly in the OJ case--maybe even criminally--which is a lot better than just a few years ago.
