Charlie and I both noted that the handwriting was so neat and clear that it looked as though it had been written in advance. Cochran said that he had never seen notes that neat.
The writing that didn’t look like his was on the “Mother’s poem” with the wilted purple flowers behind it, the fresh Larkspur on the ground in front of it, and the one drawn on it. The notes were printed but the poem was written in cursive so we couldn’t tell whether Fuhrman wrote it or not.
Since then, Rose and Dick did some digging and found that a woman who lived in the area wrote the poem. I’m not, convinced, however, that the poem we saw in the photo is the same one she wrote. The flower drawn on the paper could have been added to the woman’s original poem written in her hand. After studying Fuhrman’s signature I am inclined to believe that it was. But with that flower drawing Fuhrman added (his pen and ink style and colors) with no acknowledgment of the author (not even an “Anonymous”) he adopted it as his own. –Jasper
