You know how screwed up my e-mal has ALWAYS been. At times I couldn’t get mail or I couldn’t send it. Whenever I ask somebody to send me an e-mail or someone said they were going to send me one I crossed my fingers and hope for the best. I still do.
It started with Prodigy. When I found out they were censoring the “dirty” e-males that my girlfriend and I sent to each other, I dropped them and went to AOL, which was the absolutely the pits. It was such a hassle that it took me days to work up the nerve to look in my mailbox. Attachments were frequently inaccessible or turned into long pages of gibberish. My reply messages would often get bounce back to me telling me that there was no such e-mail address or the person I was sending to was “not an AOL subscriber.”
I went to Netscape, which was terrific until AOL bought it. Then I started having problems again. It took a long time to straighten them out. By the time I got my e-mail working the way it was supposed to I had to buy another computer. More e-mail hassles. The only way I could get around them was to go to Outlook. Outlook has worked pretty well with most people but for some reason I can’t get attachments from WebTV users.
A few days ago I downloaded a program that was suppose to find and fix viruses (it did) and delete spam. So far it has done a splendid job getting rid of the spam but now I’ve been having trouble “teaching” it that mail from Rose a friend of mine named Greg (and who knows who else) is not spam. The program seems to know everything it needs to know EXCEPT my address book and there doesn’t seem to be a way of putting it in.
You are not alone, Kari. I think that the science of e-mailing has a long way to go. –Jasper
