There is a book called "You don't have to live with cystitus" . There is another kind of thing called interstitial cystitus. It it not an infection but a flare up of a condition of the bladder, in which the bladder has lost part of the lining. Most of the things that you do for real cystitus are harmful to interstitial cystitus. Since Miss Marple may not be able to get this book, I will go farther. Acid will cause the flare up, so try anti acids like Tums or baking soda. If these give relief then it may not be an infection. Not all urologists recognize this disease. They can treat an episode with a bladder wash of baking soda and steriods. You should DEMAND that your urologist does a sensitivity test to see if you rally have an infections and the right antibiotics if you do. Too many antibiotics are one of the biggest culprets to cause it in the first place.
So diagnosis is to find a doctor that recognizes is, which is the hard part. Who can then see with a scope. Treatment is to eat a low acid diet, No fruit, only coffee that has been de acided. Take Tums if that does not work baking soda. If they does not work go to the doctor get tested to make sure not a real infection and if not then get a bladder treatment. Alergies also play a part. So think what you ate before you had an attack. Also all the foods that you are not supposed to eat if you have migrain headaches are a no no. with time you find certain things won't bother you but others will. It is a pet peave of mine that all doctors do not recognize this and keep making people worse with antibiotics. Been there done that. But you got to get a doctor cause not treating an infection can eventually cause very serious stuff.
