I believe the mistake was that Jackie said that she told Laci's family before they brought the lawsuit that they might enter any time. Once Laci's family took this to lawyers all bets were off and this is why she called the police. It hadn't been settled yet. Don't you think this is odd to go into the house and take her things before the Defense has been able to do a thouough investigation themselves? They might want to find some clothes to see if they fit witness statements.
