In 1991,a television movie called "FALSE ARREST" about a true story where a woman, who is upper middle class (I think in Arizona ) played by Donna Mills was framed close to Christmas for the murders of several people in their home @ night(a family/ business associates) by her then 2nd husband, played by Robert Wagner. When she is convicted and goes to prison the husband Wagner character conviently disappears. Her attorney takes her mansion while her daughter & son are living there & no one having any idea that the creepy husband gave house as legal fees payment.
The woman loses her entire fortune but finds an attorney who takes her appeal pro-bono. What the attorney discovered is that the FBI did their own investigation of the murders and this file was buried. The FBI concluded that the Robert Wagner husband had these people murdered because of his link to business conflicts. He made sure his Donna Mills "wife" had no alibi and made it look like she murdered them and had a motive not him.
Of course this true story had a happy ending when her 2nd trial brought out the truth and she was acquited but not until she spent some years in prison. At the time of the movie, the husband had disappeared and was never found.
Anyway, this reminded me about the fact that the FBI can have critical information, sit on it and watch an innocent person get life in prison or worse.
We Americans pay for the FBI with our tax money.
