You said "He robbed them of their common sense". I like that. We have used "manipulated" before, but that is a much too gentle a word. Fuhrman PROGRAMMED them and so robbed them of their common sense. I think that is exactly what happened. And once they realized what had happened to them they couldn't admit it. As were their habit and moral, they kept going with plan A and "additional" evidence came up.
