Jasper, I have heard about that study. It like they don't want a very smart person in a day to day job like a truck driver.
I can see where the job dissatisfaction can come in but it takes all types and in some cases a person wants a fairly routine job--and puts their smarts to work elsewhere like in hobbies or studies.
And another reason for the cops wanting a fairly average IQ is so that they will follow direction or orders as well.
I would assume that getting promoted may be more about learning to do the JOB well---not doing it all that creatively or effectively.
