Charlie,
John DeBello was the FIRST witness to say anything about the time he saw Nicole and the Browns in the restaurant. He testified on the second day of the preliminary hearing (June 21):
Q. DO YOU RECALL WHEN YOU GOT TO THE RESTAURANT THAT DAY?
A. I BELIEVE IT WAS 6:45 EXACTLY.
Q. WOULD THAT BE P.M.?
A. P.M.
Q. DID YOU SEE NICOLE BROWN SIMPSON THAT EVENING?
A. YES, I DID.
Q. WAS SHE THERE WHEN YOU ARRIVED AT THE RESTAURANT?
A. YES, SHE WAS.
On the second day of the preliminary hearing (June 30) DeBello testified that one of his duties was to see to it that the food was prepared with a consistent high quality. He testified that the Brown party was already sitting down eating when he arrived. That statement squares with Gavin’s testimony and strongly suggests that the Brown’s didn’t arrive much later than 6:30 (earlier than 6:45) and they preordered their meals.
Candice Garvey did not have to go home to feed the baby at a particular time unless she breast-fed the kid on a regular and rigid schedule. That critical point was never established to anchor her estimate of time to a clock. We don’t even know if she really went home. She might have gone to the ladies room to snort a little coke. Considering her relationship with Faye Resnick, she might have gone to the ladies room to snort a little MORE coke. --Jasper
