Jeffrey McDonald’s innocence has been proven a dozen different ways in magazine articles and television documentaries going back at least ten years. A doctor who examined his head wound flat out lied about indications that it was superficial and self-inflicted. No way. There was also some heavy-handed hanky-panky with blood and fiber evidence.
Since the O.J. trial I’ve seen or read about at least a half a dozen cases where someone was sent to prison for life on evidence that was either manufactured or suppressed. The closer you look at Wayne Williams’ conviction for the Atlanta child murders the shakier that conviction looks. Turns out the most damning evidence against him simply isn’t what it was represented to be. One of the Court TV attorneys did his own investigation of a man imprisoned for life in Michigan for murder. And guess what? He didn’t do it, either. He couldn’t have. Physical impossibility.
These people are still in prison.
A black man in Florida was convicted of murder in the late ‘80s or early ’90s, despite the testimony of two white strangers whose testimony showed that he couldn’t have done it. He said that he was on the other side of town in a white neighborhood when the murder happed. He said that his car broke down and he asked a woman in the neighborhood if he could use her phone. She testified that his story was true. She identified him, the car he was driving and the clothes that he wore. A man across the street who saw the man and his broken-down car and saw him go to the woman’s door also testified in his favor.
This man was sent to the electric chair – and he’s still dead. –Jasper
