I always thought Candace said she left to check on the baby. Could that mean, she left the room where the recital was being held and called the "nanny" or the person who was taking care of the infant by phone? That is what I thought happened. One only assumed in their own mind that she drove home.
Candace Garvey's testimony was very orchestrated. She was very careful in painting her words on the stand like when she said her husband walked away from O.J. It gave one the picture in their mind that O.J. was so odd Steve Garvey did not want to be around him and not the other way around. Actually it was Steve Garvey who was/is odd (talk about DNA proof...I am sure Garvey was quite educated in the power of DNA when it came to child support going to at least five different mothers of his children). It was O.J. who felt uncomfortable and ackward. What do you say to a couple or individual in a situation like that? Congratulations, hey Garvey any other buns in the ovens that we should know about cause its getting expensive buying these baby shower gifts...! I can imagine the jokes behind Garvey's back.
Another thing that was interesting about Candace's testimony is that she said she saw the film of O.J. hugging, kissing & laughing with the Browns for the first time the day before her testimony at the DA's office and was surprise he was so jovial. Since she was involved in this matter and would have followed the news specials her statement was surprising because that film was public as early as December, 1994. ABC ran that film on a 20/20 special when Diane Sawyer interviewed the Brown family.
