Charlie and Nancy,

I agree that Nicole took Sydney home to put the flowers in water but I disagree with everything else.

I hope this long URL takes you to the map showing the relationship between Nicole’s condo at 875 S. Bundy DR. and the Paul Revere Middle School locate a tad less than two miles away to the northeast of Bundy.

MapQuest estimates a drive time of 4 minutes between the condo and the school. Mezzaluna was only a half-mile from Nicole’s condo and the condo was between the school and the restaurant. Making the little southward detour to Nicole’s condo, putting the flowers in water and getting back on San Vicente where she would have been if she hadn’t taken the detour would have added no more than two minutes to her drive time.

It seems highly improbable to me that Nicole would have bothered to go into the house, pull out a butcher knife, cut the stems, put them in a proper container and leave the knife on the counter with the blade pointing out. I doubt that Nicole would have ever gone near a sharp knife if she didn’t have to. And there is no way she would have left it where it was found – after Mark Fuhrman “searched” the kitchen.

It seems more likely to me that Nicole didn’t even get out of her Jeep or turn off the engine. What was the point? All Sydney had to do was stick the flowers in a large water glass and get back to the Jeep. Sydney was probably running both ways because Nicole had dinner reservations and she was already late. Cutting the flowers and stems and putting them in an appropriate container could wait for the maid to take care of the next morning. I don’t think that anyone made a mystery of the errand. I just don’t think they saw it as important enough to mention. –Jasper
