I caught part of the movie a few hours ago. Several things did jump out at me. I’m taping it the next time it comes on. This time I remembered to put in the tape.
I have no idea how much input Fuhrman had in anything I saw. Therefore I don’t know how much weight to attach to little things like the Fuhrman character’s neckties (the red spotted ones Fuhrman wore on the back flap of Murder in Brentwood and the blue one with the little white boxes that he wore in an interview with Dianne Sawyer).
By the same token I don’t know how much weight to attach to big things like the murder victim’s blond hair (Nicole) or the stab to her throat (Nicole and Ron) after she was struck over the head (Nicole and Ron). But what the Fuhrman character said about the blow to the back of her head did make me sit up and take notice. He said, “He incapacitated her (Nicole). She went down.”
Is this why he was so attracted to this case? Rich suspect, famous family, wobbly timeline, golf club killer AND a blond female incapacitated with a crushing blow to the skull and stabbed in the throat. Hell of a lot of coincidences, don’t you think?
Using the patterns I saw in the network of movies I call “the Fuhrman collection” in The Smoking Gun and The Smoking Gun 2) I figured that there would be a baseball bat in there somewhere as well as the neckties. I also expected to see something about his “error” on the witness stand letting a murderer go free. They (the writer, director and producers) handled that one very neatly. All around, they made Fuhrman’s character flawed enough to look human – like an Agatha Christi super sleuth. --Jasper
