1992 is as close to the murders as I can get with an independently verifiable Fuhrman-Nicole connection. This is the year that Steven Singular says cops at a popular cop bar “teased” Fuhrman about being “Nicole’s cop.” The cops who went to the DA’s office with sworn statements that they heard Fuhrman boasting about having a sexual affair with Nicole said that they heard Fuhrman say it in a bar in ’92.
Other officers said that they heard the same stories at a picnic in ’92, which included Fuhrman’s “up close and personal” knowledge of Nicole’s breast augmentation surgery. The “affair” story Fuhrman told in the cop bar also included this intimate detail as well as Fuhrman’s claim that Nicole told him O.J. was “continuing” to abuse her. The cops who told of hearing Fuhrman say all of those things at a picnic would not give their names.
Fuhrman made a point of getting the word out to as many COPS as possible that he had something personal going with Nicole. He supposedly told Marcia Clark that his only contact with Nicole prior to the murders was in the “1985” baseball bat incident. I don’t believe he told her that.
My take on all this is that Fuhrman told his stories to fellow cops AND to Marcia Clark to accomplish several things:
1. To establish how he knew so much about the domestic violence that some cop was going to tell the LA Times was an “ongoing thing” with O.J. and Nicole.
2 To troll for Marcia Clark, by priming her interest in a situation that had all the earmarks of a prelude to a high profile murder.
3. To position himself for a leading role in the investigation (because of the inside information he got from Nicole).
4. To make himself polygraph resistant and psychic-proof with a “sort of true” story.
I don’t believe that Fuhrman was ever assigned to investigate Nicole’s complaints about harassing phone calls in ’94. It makes a good cover story, though, to replace the one he started in ’92. –Jasper
