When I say that O.J. drove straight in I simply mean that he didn’t back up when he turned the corner. The reason that that the vehicle is angled slightly is because the angled from the driveway to the street is more than 90-degrees – a sharp angle, not a slight one.
In Fuhrman’s drawing (Murder in Brentwood, page 26/ Iago, page 454) he takes out the sharp angle and puts the Bronco so close to the driveway that it would have been impossible for O.J. to make the turn from his driveway that he said he made. Marcia Clark’s drawing (Iago page 454) does likewise. The only reason to do that was to hide the importance of the true driveway/Rockingham angle and the true distance of the Bronco to the driveway. There would have been no reason to do that unless they saw the significance of the true angle and distance and didn’t want anyone else to see it.
All of the critical distortions in Fuhrman’s drawing and Marcia’s serve a tactical function. That big bump in the lawn nearest to the garage and the tight bend going around it is another example. Combined with the narrow driveway and the narrow garage, it puts the driveway several feet closer to the south path than it was and allowed Marcia to argue that the “mysterious missing bag” that Kato and Park testified to was in a place that didn’t exist.
You’re right, of course, about Arnelle’s SAAB. It wasn’t there on the night of the 12th. However, Marcia Clark showed Park photos of the driveway that were taken on the 13th. His “memory” corresponded to that picture. The fact is, Park simply wasn’t paying attention to any of the cars. All he saw before he heard about the murders were “obstacles” for maneuvering his stretched limo. –Jasper
