Michelle Kestler’s role in the blood testing goes far beyond her lie about the EDTA. You will recall that she said she could not see blood stains on the socks because the socks were dark and the lighting was bad. Dr. Henry Lee showed the jury how easy it was to do simply by holding them up to the light. Kestler didn’t let Lee or Dr. Barbara Wolf get near the socks for months. Lee and Wolfe both said that they saw a blood on a lens of Juditha Brown’s glasses that looked as though it could have been a fingerprint. Kestler wouldn’t let them get near the glasses, either, until the lens disappeared.
Then there’s that business about the blood stains in the Bronco. William Blasini and Andrew Adlen saw NO blood in the Bronco when they looked for blood on June 21. Blasini actually sat in the passenger seat of the Bronco. He also checked for fingerprint dust. He didn’t find that, either.
The photos of the bloodstains in the Bronco had sighs with the date June 14. Fung said that he and Mazola collected blood in the Bronco on the 14th. Two of those samples showed Nicole’s blood, a spot on the steering wheel and on the carpet (the carpet was cut out when Blasini got in the Bronco). HOWEVER, the biggest blood smears in the photo, the ones on the passenger side of the console, were not in Fung’s report and Kestler didn’t see them until August 26. The Bronco wasn’t moved to a secure location until July 29.
Singular could be more connected to the crime lab than he wants us to know. I have always suspected that he hid that knowledge to keep his anonymous contact anonymous. The way he tells the story in Legacy of Deception, he gives the impression that his source was a man inside the DA’s office. That’s a pretty good disguise if he was really trying to hide a female inside of the SID lab. The lab had 50 people. I don’t know how many females. Whoever it was knew enough about EDTA to put Singular on to an expert outside of the lab. That person also knew enough about Fuhrman’s reputation for being “very good” at planting evidence to suspect that he was responsible for planting blood evidence on the crime scenes – AND in the lab. Why else would the source mention Fuhrman in connection with the glove AND the EDTA? --Jasper
