But then his whole challenge was a phony. He asked what his unnecessary editions hid. Leaving out entire sentences is not an unnecessary edition, but a perfectly appropriate cutting of text to focus on only the direct point he watned to make. That's not an unnecesary edition, but necessarily what anyone would do to focus on a particular argument.
