Under CA State Law the first person to find a dead body is supposed to call the police. The first police officer on the scene is to call the coroner whether the highest ranking cop on the beat or a black and white. Just as the EMT or any other law enforcement person. They are part of the legal system and the states they call the coroner. If I recall correctly, the black and white or EMT did call the Coroner and the Highest Ranking Officer called the Coroner back and told them to hold off for a while. They did what they were told to do. MY POINT was that any police officer who finds a dead body, calls it in, then calls the coroner. No one has to order them to do it, it is the Law.
