I realize this. Where I live in CA the police officers I know arrive with the firemen if a 911 call comes in. So the call to the Coroner is taken out of the hands of higher ups and lands in the hands of the first officer on the scene. I grew up with the guys and took a test for a job with law enforcement with some of them. I got higher scores then they did as well. In my family if you can't get off for a job interview you don't go. Otherwise I'd have been a police officer myself. Until my back made itself known of course. This is how I know the first officer on the scene, where I live, must call the coroner himself and not rely on the Fire Dept or EMT's as they show up at the same time. The only time any don't show if it is a medical emergency at which time the police don't show up just the Fire Dept and the EMT's.
