The best that I can recall this concerns some "ties" worn in court by Johnny Cochran and others that were made from African cloth.
They did not wear African garments but ties made from African patterned cloth.
I know of no article that was written about it although there may have been. I only recall the reporters/pundits on tv discussing it the day that they did it.
