Men Against Women is probably the most benign of the groups that Fuhrman was involved in with other police officers. Phillips could have belonged to any or all of them given the way Fuhrman talked about him in Murder in Brentwood (page 108): “Ron is more than a friend – he is like the big brother I never had… Ron is the reason I became the detective I was the morning of June 13, 1994. We were a team – Tow ‘Type-A’ personalities who worked too hard, took our jobs very seriously, and love what we did. We were so much alike that it scared even us.”
The groups that I would like to know whether Phillips and Fuhrman both belonged to were the “O.J. Busters” and the group that Fuhrman represented as a delegate (union steward) in the Police Protective League. Working in the same police station and cooperating as they did, it’s hard to believe that both of them didn’t belong to those groups.
Unfortunately O.J.’s defense team never followed up on the connections between Fuhrman and others who testified for the prosecution in the murder case or the civil case. I’m talking not only about cops but people in the lab, people in the DA’s office and people in the city attorney’s office. I would not be surprised to find Marcia Clark in there somewhere, if only a strong connection to a mutual friend as Ron Shipp was to Faye Resnick and Denise Brown. –Jasper
