Sacramento is 70 miles from Modesto and Davis about ten miles from Sacramento. So your talking more like 80 miles. Depending if you take I-5 or else I-80 which isn't really an Interstate but it can be if you take a junction. Anyway, Davis is where the University Of California At Davis is. It is a college town. The story was reported from Stanislaus Court House in Modesto so perhaps some pundits got confused.
