Miss Marple and Charlie,
Marcia Clark brought up the naturally shed hand (limb) hairs of a black person in her direct examination of Deedrick. You can’t find everything on the subject in one place. That’s why I wasn’t sure of the number of hairs from a black person found in the glove. This will get you started until I can find the other references (John, note: this is my issue so it’s my responsibility. Miss Marple did not ask me to refute what SHE said.):

MS. CLARK: And which items of evidence revealed black limb hairs?
MR. DEEDRICK: That would have been Ron Goldman's shirt as well as the glove recovered at Rockingham.
MS. CLARK: Now, did you receive any limb hair samples from the Defendant?
MR. DEEDRICK: I did not.
MS. CLARK: What is your habit and custom with respect to the comparison of limb hairs?
MR. DEEDRICK: Well, they are not routinely compared in a forensic laboratory because of their limited nature.
MS. CLARK: What do you mean by that, "Limited nature"?
MR. DEEDRICK: Well, limb hairs do not have enough individual microscopic characteristics, like head hairs and pubic hairs, for me to say or for forensic examiners to say that this person is a likely candidate of this particular hair as being the source. There is too much overlap that we find. There is some broad conclusions that can be reached. That is, a person with blond limb hair is going to look different than an individual that has black-colored limb hair. It is possible to distinguish race in some instances, but they are not as good as head and pubic hairs for comparison purposes.
This is a touchy subject for Fuhrman because all of these hairs were found on Goldman’s shirt and in the Rockingham glove, there were so few of them and a glove from O.J.’s bedroom closet came up missing after Fuhrman and Roberts searched it. The bedroom search came after Fuhrman found the glove so here again, with the limb hair on Goldman’s shirt, the issue of Fuhrman’s access to the lab (missing lens with unidentified fingerprint/ wet transfer stain on bindle) comes up.
Marcia claimed that the hair from a white person on the Rockingham glove was tested against all of the detectives and the results were negative but she did not enter the test results into evidence. I might have gotten the “naturally-shed” part wrong. I could have confused that with the hair inside of the cap. I’ll check. –Jasper
