Don’t you get it, yet? The biggest winner in the 10th Annual murder sweepstakes is going to be Mark Fuhrman. You have been plowing the road for him everywhere you go for years.
Your biggest frustration is that you can’t persuade people to see Kato and Fuhrman the way you see thim. That’s what you have been working toward and that’s the only bottom line you will accept. You have shown flashes of ANGER that I would even suggest Fuhrman as a murder suspect and you have announced your goal to discredit Iago. That puts Iago in good company with Killing Time, which you also trashed and I can’t every recall you giving Chris Springer’s work the courtesy of acknowledging. Why is everyone who believes in O.J.’s innocence but not in Kato’s guilt wrong? Because they are not as smart as you are, they did not read Marc Eliot’s book or they are too overcome by allegations of racism against Mark Fuhrman to think clearly about the evidence against Kato.
You are not the only reason we can’t do anything for the 10th. I wrote Iago after sifting through tons of evidence and testimony. But a causal visitor can easily find one line from Rose, Charlie, Jean or Kari to make me look as though I didn’t do my homework simply by stopping in their posts where that appears to be true. That’s how most people do this kind of research. They look for something to prove a point. When they find it they close the book in triumph and move on. The success of Mark Fuhrman’s books and his movie depends heavily on the recognition that most people operate this way – the way you do it.
This board was set up to be a living extension of Iago, to correct errors, to explore new ideas and to challenge old ones. The objective was supposed to be for all of us to learn and to share what we learn. For some people the objective is to win. I can’t afford to play that game. But if you challenge me on a key point that I took month to establish if not my professional lifetime (I am still astounded by how you can brush that aside without a moment of reflection) you force me to answer or to allow your challenge to stand.
You can do your thing forever, John. I can’t. If you hang in there you might carry these boards on the 10th by attrition. By then there might not be anybody to stop you. –Jasper
