Part of this has to do with the fact that the part where Kato lived, etc was not part of the orginal house. It was put on later. So the orginal house had the maids room by the laundry and kitchen. OJ then put on the extra rooms. And it seems that maids had a choice of where they stayed.
There where 3 offices. OJ's in the house. Nicole's by Kato and one at the end of the guest rooms in the kind of pool house. I would guess that this is part of the original, pool house, was used by the former owners as pool and guest house from Jason's testimony. He wanted to live there as a kid before OJ added on (I think) and OJ must have turned the pool house upper story into an office at some time after he no longer needed it as a guest house.
Have a hunch that maybe he used it before he got the office with his lawyer.
