The passage I cited settles the issue. It speaks specifically of a guest room “where Michelle lived.” The maid’s room was in the house where she worked.
Your quotation is out of context. It misses the physical and temporal scope of the incident. Incidents is a better word. The incident that Petrocelli is referring to in the line you quoted precedes the time that Micelle took off to the guesthouse and Nicole went after her. You should have included O.J.’s answer. ”Yeah. She had kind of pushed the phone at me, and I was trying to make her be still. And she got on the bed, and got to the other side of the bed, said some things to me. And I think walked -- came to the end of the bedroom, where I guess Michelle was at the door, and they went out the door.”
In other words, O.J. and Nicole were wresting on the bed in the little room inside the house and then Michelle and Nicole left. You can bet that they didn’t leave hand-in-hand. They were in that room to begin with because Nicole, violently angry, was trying to get at Michelle and O.J. was trying to stop her.
No one ever said that the maid’s room in the house wasn’t involved in the ’89 incident or that Michelle never went there for any reason. The argument between O.J. and Nicole started upstairs in the master bedroom and it took up with Nicole and Michelle in Michelle’s downstairs room when O.J. threw her out.
When Michelle called AC to tell him about the fight upstairs she could only have known about it if she were in the house. AC said that Nicole was fuming at O.J. when he entered the kitchen. She was by the sink with Jusin in her arms cursing at him and threatening to call the police. Her face was flushed with anger. AC did not notice any bruises, scratches or cuts on her face. She pretty much told AC to get lost. Eventually he did. This is not a woman in fear of her life from an enraged spouse who just beat her up. Besides, the timing is wrong.
AC never noted the time. But what he did after Michelle called him took more time than could have elapsed after Sharon Gilbert got the 911 call from Rockingham at 3:58. He drove to Rockingham and spent some time there. He drove back home, went to sleep, got up again when O.J. called him from a neighbor’s house on the next block over from Rockingham and drive there to talk to O.J. before O.J. went home. That’s when it appears that the wrestling match between O.J. and Nicole in Michelle’s room inside the house started.
I say that Michelle made the 911 call from her locked bungalow out of fear that Nicole would get inside and attack her. Gilbert’s emergency line to Rockingham stayed open for thee minutes without a sound. – time enough for Nicole to go back to the main house and get her master key to unlock Michelle’s door. After Nicole’s earlier threats to call the police on O.J. and the business with the phone on the bed in the maid’s room in the house, I think he tried to stay out of it. I don’t think he imagined that Nicole would use her master key to get into the guesthouse. But at 4:01 Gilbert heard a scream and a slap. It had to have come from the guesthouse – where Michelle lived. –Jasper
