Jean,
My reading of Nicole is a more complex than yours. She had her fault like all of us do and when you focus on them they seem to overpower everything else about her. However I do think that what you said about her wanting a housekeeper who was loyal to her was right.
O.J. and Nicole looked like they belong together. They loved each other deeply and preferred to stay together with the childern if they could have. As near as I can tell the things that got in the way of their living together was O.J.’s philandering and Nicole’s choice of people to associate with.
Nicole was so young when she married O.J. that I don’t wonder that she went a little wild sexually when she separated from him. Even then it doesn’t appear that she wanted a full sexual relationship with anyone except O.J. separated or divorced – thus her preference for performing oral sex and her fling with Faye.
Many normal women find the “Brentwood salute” very satisfying and safe, especially if (like Nicole) their religion forbids artificial contraception and they fear contracting venereal disease. It makes them extremely desirable to men, puts them in real control while making the man feel dominant and if they do it well enough most men will be happy with taking it no further. Divorce papers or no, I think Nicole considered herself married for life and from all accounts fellatio seems to have been the ONLY form of sex that she practiced with men – except with her husband.
Nicole was also very status-conscious and although she was breaking away from her drug habit Faye was probably beginning to drain Nicole dry with hers. To keep up with the rich lifestyle Nicole had become addicted to with O.J. as well as to resume her love life and family life with him I think that she would have preferred to get back with him and to stay with him if possible.
That brings us to Nicole’s motives for wanting to move back in with O.J. shortly before her death and why I think you were right about her not wanting Michelle or Gigi around. The issue was loyalty. She undoubtedly wanted to keep something on O.J. that she could use to maintain the lifestyle she had with him in case their relationship failed again but I don’t think that she was worried about any sexual affairs she might have wanted to have. O.J. wasn’t concerned about her sexual affairs. His concerns were her indiscretion and the people she brought home. Do it if you feel you must but be careful who you do it with and who sees you doing it.
I think that O.J. secretly wanted Nicole to have sexual affairs to ease his conscience with is own infidelity. And I think that Nicole and Michelle knew it. --Jasper
