Chan, The "mystery' of the Browns and their money or lack of it has been the discussion of many hours. The money that disappeared even got nicknamed the Big Black Hole.
OJ gave Lou the managership/ownership of several businesses --one being a Hertz dealership. How you drive that into the ground and "lose" it I don't know. But he did.
You may recall that OJ paid the Browns $10,000 per month to take care of the kids and their expenses (school, dance lessons, nanny, etc.) while he was in jail. At one point, Lou made the claim that OJ wasn't paying it an author Joe Bosco looked into it and went to the lawyer's office and personally saw every single cancelled check that OJ had given Lou and there were NO missing payments. OJ later learned that the Browns had never paid the nanny (Justin's old nanny) one single time in the year.
As you say, 5 working adults and they need a nanny? And they used up every bit of the $200,000 plus that OJ gave them during that time.
I don't know what Lou's education was and never heard. I did know he had been in the army in Germany when he met Judy and started living with her and had the first two girls (as told in the Rage book). He had another family back in TExas whom he left.
I do know that one of the first daughters from the first family died in the year before Nicole of cancer but little was said of that. I think the other child(ren) came to Nicole's funeral but they didn' know each other very much.
No matter how much money the Browns had as an income, it never seemed enough. OJ took the lien on the Dana Point house when they owned money somewehere. I think Lou couldn't keep a job, hence OJ tried to set him up in business multiple times but he failed at it.
I know that one of the cars went to one of the daughters. I know that according to reports--Denise who had been living at home and only working a retail job in LA__which must have cost her to go to LA to work each day...ended up with a Mercedes and a condo after Nicole's death which burned OJ up and he said so.
She is on the edge of "charges" for taking money from the Nicole charity she set up. I know of twice that it has been investigated. They caught them taking in the money but giving very litle of it to charity. Couldn't account for it.
As far as Judy's travel agency, I believe most of her business was business tha OJ sent her. He used her himself. (which means she knew exactly what his schedule was that weekend) W/out OJ sending her business--the business may have just gone away.
BTW, did Denise even HAVE a driver's license by the spring of 94 since she had those DWI's and spent time in jail a I learned just yesterday. How did she get to work? Where did Dom work? Where did the youngest work? Did she ride with them? If not, how did she get to work? An hour and half hour trip both ways?? Does that make sense for a low paying retail job?
It had to be pretty major for a judge to take the trust funds away from Lou --immediately--and give it to a friend of OJ's.
I don't know how they are living now w/out OJ giving them money--but perhaps he is. Don't know. They are really too old to work---and the last I saw anything of them--they both appeared senile.
