Tim G. Jean is correct. The important thing is that the calls came in long before the bodies were found. (12ish)
And the wrong station was called but one that was nearby and could be mistaken for the correct station.
And depending on what scenario you go by (murder at 1015 or at 1040) the call was made before the murders or about the time of the murders. The cop is not certain what time it was exactly. He knows it was very near when he got off duty and I think that was 1045 or so.
It has always been a Mystery. It could well have been the cop's (married) girlfriend who was a top reporter at Chn 4 and was the subject of a leak investigation.
That does not explain the delay in finding the bodies however...or why they never came forward.
This could have been someone pretending to be a reporter and opens the door for a potential witness to the crime.
"Someone" knew of the deaths perhaps long before the bodies were officially found.
The caller was a Female which knocks out OJ as being the caller. (if someone wanted to say that OJ was reporting it so the kids wouldn't find the bodies)
It has always been the case that there could have been an actual witness--who never came forward.
